For nine years, the Baltimore High School Film Festival (BHFF) has showcased young filmmakers in Maryland and Washington, DC, receiving more than 700 submissions since its inauguration and screening a total of 169 videos on the big screen.

For the first year ever, we’re partnering with the Johns Hopkins University to present the Saul Zaentz High School Film Festival, an annual juried high school film festival for students from around the world. The festival will be June 7-9 in Baltimore.

What this means: By submitting one time, you’ll be entered into two different festival competitions to receive prizes, one for Maryland filmmakers and another for the general festival. There will be a special screening for Maryland films on June 8 at 9:30 am at the Charles Theatre, but you’ll have multiple opportunities to network with other filmmakers and attend free filmmaking workshops throughout the weekend, if you so choose.

As always, there will be no charge for submission nor to attend the film screenings.

You will continue to submit at this site for this year only. Next year you will submit at szfest.org. Please join us for an unforgettable festival!
